Googling My Book Titles Again...

I was at it again this morning--Googling my book titles, and found my book Peanut Buttor Tweatment on Lousy Book Covers website. The tags were "art for refrigerator" and "bad font choice" Yes, the font is bad. I admit it.  But, in my defense, I did the illustrations, and they are supposed to look like refrigerator art-- like kid drawings. I think this is a hoot!  Who knew such a site existed?


 I don't know who the guy posting the covers is,  but I'm guessing he makes book covers! Oh, yes he does! Click here

Working on "Mermaid's Kiss"

I started writing this YA short story well over a year ago, and had the cover made, but had to take time off from writing for personal reasons. Today, I've gotten the entire story written, but of course, it is going to need some rewriting and editing before publishing it as a Kindle short.

I hope to have it available on Kindle by the end of February.

Blurp: Thomas's grandfather is terminally ill, and he would do anything to save his beloved Grandpa. In Thomas' search for a solution, he learns that a mermaid's kiss is said to have healing powers. But, do mermaids even exist, and if they do, can Thomas catch one to kiss his grandfather?
Thomas is determined to find out.

Why Yes...I Do Google Myself

I do. I Google my name, sometimes, but I do Google my book titles to see if anything new pops up. And, sometimes it does. There were reviews out there I didn't know existed, and they were a pleasant surprise.

I loved this one by a ten year old who read Alfred C. Bogeyman. The review is one LitPick

Fire and Ice Books

The book starts off with a boy named Adrian who hears his brother Sam screaming from in his room and remembers that his brother is being scared by the boogeyman.  He and his friends go on a search to find the boogeyman’s house. When they find it the house, they know they will have to come back and defeat the bogeyman. Will they succeed?  Read to find out!

 Opinion: 

This was a great book! It was about a kid who stands up for his brother. I like that Adrian does that for Sam. It is very kind to do that for anyone especially someone related to you. It had a lot of suspense; I like that in a book. I hope you find this book is as good as I did!

This review made my day. This is story is intended for younger readers, but it is also a fun read for adults. After finding this review, I also found this review from Bubblews

This was a very cute, fun, short story. I really enjoyed reading it and having a few laughs with Ralph, Sean, and Adrian. 

This short story is about three children named Ralph, Sean, and Adrian who believe that the boogieman is scaring Adrian's little brother Sam. Adrian is the brave one in the group, Ralph is the brains, while Sean is afraid of everything. Feeling the need to protect his little brother Adrian and the boys go on a mission to find the boogieman and teach him a lesson. 

They come up with a plan to use Sean's dog Socks to track down the boogieman and scare him. I don't want to give too much away but I'll say I really liked the ending of the story and really enjoyed reading about Sean, Adrian, and Ralph. It was a really good read! Especially if you're looking for a short story.

5 stars!!!

The good news is, I didn't find any bad reviews. Shew!

Fictitious Magazine Update

Fictitious Magazine is Back!

I've been going through email submissions and want to thank all of the writers who have submitted, and let them know they should receive a response from me within the next week.  I am currently taking new submissions as well.

I also have a new author interview up with Stan Hampton Sr. You can read it here. I'll have new stories and poems up on Monday, so check back. I'm not sure, yet, how often new stories will be published; it will depend on how busy my schedule gets.

Memoir Writing

I write everyday, but I do a great deal of ghostwriting for blogs and websites, so I have content published all over the internet-it just doesn't have my name attached to it, with the exception of the gardening articles I write for SF Gate Gardening, Ehow Gardening and Modern Mom Magazine. I do have a byline for these.

While I do enjoy writing the gardening articles, because I love gardening, it's not my what I want to spend all my time doing. The ghostwriting covers a variety of topics, so that work can be interesting, too. But, I want to write fiction stories, and I like to write about real life events. I wrote a memoir for an assignment in college about my dad, and how he tells an embarrassing story about my childhood. He actually has stories about all us kids, and there are eight of us, so he has plenty of stories, but this one incident he tells about me as a child always embarrassed me, until I got older and realized, I do the the same thing to my girls.

The Bloomin' Dog Story is a memoir about this story, and how as I got older, I was better able to understand why Dad tells these stories about his children. This are stories that are close to his heart. So, I published this story on Yahoo. You can read it here. Yahoo gives me a platform to write a variety of articles, poems and stories, so I plan to use it as a way to publish what I want to write and share with others.
