Still Working on The Peanut Buttor Tweatment!

I've completed more pages and continue to make changes as I work. Once I started putting it all together, I realized I needed a couple more illustrations, so I'll be working on those during  the long weekend. I have a picture that will go on the back cover of all the books in the Hairinton's series. (below)

This is Mom, Dad, Sis and Bub. Grammy is another character in this first book. Her picture is below.

The Hairingtons live in Dustycorners and Grammy lives in Creviceville, so she comes to visit them once a month and stays for the weekend, which she does in this first book.

I still plan to have the book ready for release by mid June. Once all the pictures are finished, I will  have more editing to do before the release.
Self-publishing is a great deal of work, but being able to put together a book exactly as I envision it is wonderful. I just hope the books will put a smile on the face of the children and adults who read it.

Moving Forward

Okay, I've go this cover problem figured out. So this week, I'm moving forward with putting the children's book together. But, It will still be June before it's ready.

I am also working on a book of very short stories-all under 500 words. The title is Flashes Of Fiction, and I plan to self-publish this one as well.

I want to get into publishing, so this is a good way to test the waters before jumping in. I'll start out small and learn the process before taking any plunges. My goal is to run my own publishing company in the future. I thought about naming it, Burtonhead Publishing or Burtonhead Books. We'll see. Today, there is so much great technology for writers and publishers, how can I not give it a try?

I'm working on several projects at once. I shift from one to the other when inspiration strikes. I'm not sure how productive this will be in the long run, but for now, it's working. I am writing two YA novellas at this time--one a drama/mystery and the other a sci-fi/speculative story. Plus, my children's book and two books of short stories. I've also gotten back into writing greeting cards. I love trying to come up with verses for greeting cards- it's fun!

I'm hoping the the copies of Tales From Imagination's Closet will come in the mail today,so I can get them to Viewpoint Books this week. I have had so many people as where to buy it and right now it's only available online. Still waiting on Amazon!

Oh, I also plan to make some updates to my webstie. I hope to have those done by early next week and ready to share!

Stuck!

I have most of the pages sketched for my children's book, so I sketched and colored in a cover picture. Well, I got on Lulu to create the cover and found it won't work with the designer Lulu offers. I know there has to be a way around this, I just have to get it figured out. This is going to delay getting the book published. I was hoping to have everything put together before May 27th because that is when my classes start up again, and I don't know how much time I'll have to work on writing projects.

So, today I'll work on that, but my guess is it'll be sometime in  June before I get this book together and ready for publishing.

Other news!  Viewpoint books in Columbus should have copies of Tales From Imagination's Closet at some point next week. I will keep everyone updated on the progress.

No word yet on when the book will be available on Amazon, but it should be soon. *fingers crossed*

Making Progress

I have 17 out of 25 illustrations sketched for The Peanut Buttor Tweatment. So, this is taking a bit longer than I had planned. I still have to color them in and decide on a cover. I've have two differnent cover sketches. And, I've only just begun on the Hairington's website. It will give everyone an idea of who these creatures are, where they live and a bit about each character's personality. Plus, I will have covers for upcoming books in the series with a brief synopsis of each.

This is a picture of Bub Hairington. He's one of the main characters and will appear in all the books I've begun writing so far. He get's himself into a sticky situation in the first book, The Peanut Buttor Tweatment because of his love for gumballs.(more details to come.)
I've been reworking some of the other characters because I'm not yet satisfied with how they look. Once I decide on a final look for each character, I will begin adding them to the website and filling in details. I'll let everyone know when it's ready to view.
